
2026 Fire Application Information
The CCFFDIA focuses on strengthening knowledge, skills and experience in response to urban, wildland urban interface and disaster response readiness through classroom education and hands on training using real human cadavers in actual fatal fire scenes. Lectures will cover topics 1-9 and 10 is the hands-on processing of the group fire scenes in the field.
Broad Topics:
1. WUI Fire Science
2. ICS and how to coordinate roles in the disaster setting
3. How people and animals become involved in WUI fires
4. How bodies burn
5. Identification of human remains
6. Processing WUI scenarios
7. Investigative needs (new technologies) for specific WUI burn scenarios
8. WUI search and recovery
9. Post recovery analysis / best practices
10. Hands-on group processing of fatal WUI fire scenes
What to bring to the course
1. Digital device (laptop, tablet) to access digital lecture materials.
2. PPE and standard field clothing including:

Information on paying course fees
Course fee is $1400. Course fee includes daily lunch and Monday evening dinner, room and board not included. Payment instructions will be sent once course applications are approved.
