2026 Other (inclusive) Application Information

(Enrolled University students, medical doctors, forensic scientists, district attorneys, district attorney investigators)

The CCFFDIA focuses on strengthening knowledge, skills and experience in response to urban, wildland urban interface and disaster response readiness through classroom education and hands on training using real human cadavers in actual fatal fire scenes. Lectures will cover topics 1-9 and 10 is the hands-on processing of the group fire scenes in the field. 

 

Broad Topics:  

1. WUI Fire Science

2. ICS and how to coordinate roles in the disaster setting

3. How people and animals become involved in WUI fires 

4. How bodies burn

5. Identification of human remains

6.​ Processing WUI scenarios

7. Investigative needs (new technologies) for specific WUI burn scenarios

8. WUI search and recovery 

9. Post recovery analysis / best practices 

10. Hands-on group processing of fatal WUI fire scenes

What to bring to the course 

1. Digital device (laptop, tablet) to access digital lecture materials. 

2. PPE and standard field clothing including: 

  • PPE: eye protection, gloves, mask

  • Tyvek suits (recommended)

  • Closed toed field boots (puncture proof recommended)

  • Heavy duty field pants 

  • Eye protection (recommended)

  • Field shirt (short or long sleeve ok)

  • (self contained breathing devices are not needed, No IDLH). 

Transportation and lodging information: 

Lodging information: A block of rooms has been reserved at the government rate at the Double Tree by Hilton in down town Fresno near the convention center

Information on paying course fees

Course fee is $1400. Course fee includes daily lunch and Monday evening dinner, room and board not included. Payment instructions will be sent once course applications are approved.

Student Applicants 

If you are an enrolled University student you must fill out all the information below relevant to your education level. Incomplete applications may be rejected. Once you complete this section be sure to skip to the essay section.  Students wishing to get academic credit for the course will register through Fresno State continuing global education once their CCFFDIA application has been accepted. These students will pay a reduced rate  directly to CCFFDIA because they will pay tuition to Fresno state CGE. 

Physician Applicants  

If you are a practicing medical doctor you must fill out all the information below. Incomplete applications may be rejected.  If you do not have a direct supervisor please put N/A

District Attorneys / Attorney Investigator Applicants 

If you are a DA or a DA investigator you must fill out all the information below. Incomplete applications may be rejected. 

Forensic Scientist Applicants 

If you are a professional forensic scientist you must fill out all the information below. Incomplete applications may be rejected.
